eJournal
Welcome to the RP Group eJournal of Research, Planning, and Practice. The goal of this electronic publication is to establish a common ground for California community college practitioners (including researchers and planners) to read, contemplate and discuss key issues affecting our work. The eJournal is dedicated to providing a forum to reflect upon and discuss the following issues:
- New accreditation standards that require colleges to establish additional processes to identify and assess student learning outcomes.
- The increasing public and legislative demands for accountability reporting, especially for occupational programs, that require more attention from research and planning professionals.
- Growth of technology-mediated educational services that require new approaches to assessing course and program effectiveness.
- The continued growth of social and educational divisions within the state's populations that require additional focus from research and planning professionals to address the needs of the underserved.
- Continued growth of the field of knowledge management, along with the introduction of more sophisticated information technology tools that are opening doors to new research and planning strategies and activities.
- The vicissitudes of the state's budget that require ongoing monitoring and analyses to ensure community colleges' capacity to maintain their educational mission.
