Do you ever wonder what happens to the IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) data we all submit? Has your institution ever been tapped to participate in a "voluntary" supplemental survey from the US Department of Education, such as the NPSAS (National Postsecondary Student Aid Study), BPS (Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study), B&B (Baccalaureate and Beyond), or PEQIS (Postsecondary Education Quick Information System)? If so, you may have an awareness of the publicly available data that we as researchers can access from the NCES. At this session, you will learn about the vast amount of longitudinal preK‐12 and postsecondary data (and other resources) from NCES, and we will discuss possible applications for California Community College Institutional Researchers. Specifically, we should have time in the session to explore the Data Analysis System, Quick Stats, and the IPEDS Data Center. Vice Chancellor Perry, who serves on Advisory Boards for IPEDS and NCES, will add depth to the discussion and share with us insights from the state and national perspectives.
