Growing Your SLO Experiences

We all know that growing any process “from the ground up” takes planning, coordination, and collaboration. Then when you add to the mix an organizational shift in how we do outcomes assessment—SLOs—planning, coordination and collaboration increase tenfold. Like most campuses, SLOs are faculty‐run at Mt. San Antonio College. But through our SLO experiences over the last two years, we have developed our hands‐on experiences into a unique and working model we would like to share with you. Need ideas to jump‐start your SLO efforts? This session will provide you with the nuts and bolts of how we collaborated, coordinated, and planned learning outcomes assessment on campus and the variety of user‐friendly ways it was delivered to faculty and campus‐wide. We will provide you with some examples of our newsletters and papers on SLO topics and allow you to see how we measure our progress on our SLO work. (Yes, we can tell you the percentage of our course‐level SLOs that have been written, etc. and its transparency to the employees and students.)
