November is National Native American Heritage Month, a time dedicated to celebrating the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, histories, and vital contributions of Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians.
National Veterans and Military Families Month
In the United States, November is nationally recognized as National Veterans and Military Families Month, and Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11. This month is a dedicated time to honor the commitment, sacrifices, and unique challenges faced by both our veterans and their families.
To honor the prior learning and experiences of veteran students, a key initiative across the CCCs is credit for prior learning, an effort that provides veterans with an opportunity to receive academic credit for college-level knowledge and skills acquired during their military service.
While November serves as an important time for national reflection and recognition, our dedication to those who have served must not be confined to a single month. The challenges veterans face as they transition into academic life are present every day of the year. By proactively highlighting the experiences of this valued population and dedicating resources to support them, we can ensure that we truly understand their unique needs and are best equipped to help them achieve their educational and career goals.
