Coraima Martinez

Coraima Martinez is a first generation college student, currently attending East Los Angeles College where she is majoring in political science. Ms. Martinez has served in numerous leadership roles, such as: SSCCC Region 7 Vice Chair, VP of ESPAA (Elac Students for Political Awareness and Advocacy), and Lead AFT1521 student intern.

Ms. Martinez has lobbied in support of legislation working to create diversity, equity, and inclusion within higher education; lead an initiative for student direct aid to be distributed to all LACCD students who qualified; and has co-lead and organized several town halls in order for the LACCD students to address equity concerns and have concerns be answered.

Ms. Martinez is currently serving as the newly elected LACCD Student Trustee and continues to serve as a Lead AFT1521 student intern, furthering her mission to support diversity and equity within higher education; understanding that student-centered conversations must center student voices. She is applying to transfer this fall and has plans to attend law school once she has completed her BA.
