Our Projects

The RP Group's projects are driven by a singular goal: strengthening success for all community college students in California and beyond.

We work from the bottom up, the top down, and through the middle — bolstering college-level efforts while offering insights that can yield system-wide transformation.

Our research, evaluation, and capacity-building projects enhance student and practitioner perspectives by supporting community colleges in utilizing project results at the local, regional, and state levels.

AATP_students

African American Transfer Tipping Point Study

This research aims to identify key factors influencing transfer success among high-leverage African American/Black learners in the California Community Colleges system. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the project seeks to identify “tipping points” that facilitate their transfer success.

Geographical Barriers to Transfer

This project explores the role of university deserts as barriers to transfer-intending community college students, particularly Latine students and students from low-income backgrounds.

 Multiple Measures Assessment Project (MMAP)

This project supports research and implementation efforts of AB 705 and AB 1705, which seek to improve equitable placement into and completion of transfer-level English and math courses required for a student’s program of study.

A statewide survey data collection effort to provide colleges and the CCC system with information about CCC students’ food and housing security.

Transfer Among Rural Learners

This research is designed to investigate the factors influencing transfer decisions to address the unique challenges faced by students living in rural areas with limited higher education options.

This study aimed to understand how community colleges can feasibly deliver support both inside and outside the classroom to improve success for all students, with a particular focus on African American/Black and Latine learners.
