Fábio da Costa Silva

Fábio Da Costa Silva is an international student from Brazil, currently attending Riverside City College, where he is majoring in elementary education. He has already received a degree in environmental engineering and a master’s in environmental sciences, both from the Federal University of Tocantins, Brazil, but his passion for teaching science and math to bilingual children has brought him to the United States to obtain a formal teaching degree and expand his abilities in a second language.

Before coming to the United States, Fábio got invited by Guide on the Side, an American-owned tutoring company, to teach math and science to low-income children through video conferences during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has also long advocated for a solid elementary and high school education within his community by helping local Brazilian children with their exam preparation and homework. Not only that, but he also believes that enhancing the acquisition of math, science, and language skills can improve the future of many children and teenagers in emergent countries like Brazil.

Fábio has recently been added to the Dean’s Honors List for his academic performance during the spring 2022 semester, and he is currently a proud member of the RCC UMOJA community.
