Nancy Ruiz

Nancy is a single mom, a student, and an ambassador. Madera Community College made it possible for her to return to college by eliminating as many potential barriers as possible. Programs such as CalWORKs, EOPS, and CARE have helped align Nancy’s academic goals for the future by providing academic counseling, workshops, field trips to universities, and grants. Nancy is beyond grateful for the sense of belonging that Madera Community College has offered her. Nancy’s community has helped her achieve a 4.0 for the last 3 consecutive semesters. This semester will be her fourth and final semester, completing two associate degrees for transfer in psychology and sociology. In the next few months, Nancy will apply to the psychology program at Fresno State University with the goal of becoming a licensed child psychologist.
