Statewide Volunteer Opportunities
As a benefit of being an RP Group member, we invite any current institutional research, planning, and effectiveness (IRPE) field members interested in growing their own professional development and helping to make a difference in the state to please complete an interest form for any or all of these three volunteer opportunities:
-
Serving as an IRPE representative on a statewide committee or workgroup
-
Serving on The RP Group's organizational and professional development committees
- Serving on The RP Group Board as an At-Large Board Representative
More information about each of these opportunities is provided below.
Your responses are confidential and will not be shared outside The RP Group.
Three Volunteer Opportunities
When an opportunity arises that matches your interests and experiences, we will contact you to determine if you are interested and able to serve. Please note that we may receive more interest forms than opportunities available. Therefore, the submission of an interest form does not guarantee an appointment.
We will reach out to reconfirm your interest on an annual basis. However, you can remove yourself from consideration or update your interest form at any time.
Note: You will find two separate interest forms below: one combined form for the committee opportunities (Opportunities 1 and 2), and a separate form for the At-Large Board Representative opportunity (Opportunity 3).
If you have any questions, please contact membership@rpgroup.org.
Opportunity 1
Serving as an IRPE representative on a statewide committee or workgroup, representing CCC researchers and planners
The California Community Colleges (CCC) system office has many standing and ad hoc committees and workgroups that use a representative decision-making model. As The RP Group is the representative organization for IRPE professionals, The RP Group is asked to appoint RP Group members, who are part of the IRPE field, to serve on statewide committees and workgroups to provide guidance on institutional research, planning, and effectiveness issues.
While IRPE representatives are appointed to statewide committees by The RP Group, they do not represent The RP Group; they represent CCC researchers and planners. These service opportunities allow IRPE professionals to contribute to the IRPE field and help improve the CCC system.

Opportunity 3
Serving on The RP Group Board as an At-Large Board Representative
Unlike Regional Representatives, who are elected by their regions, At‑Large Board Representatives are neither tied to a specific geographic area nor elected; they are appointed by the Board to meet representation and expertise needs. At‑Large Representatives offer a broad perspective and help ensure the Board reflects a diverse range of IRPE experience and expertise across the state. Terms for At‑Large positions are one year (July 1–June 30), with the possibility of renewal.
The Board of Directors is charged with determining and operationalizing The RP Group’s mission, vision, and values. The Board leads the organization by representing and advocating for the IRPE community, developing organizational policy, setting strategic direction, and providing fiscal oversight.
